“As a single parent, it is very expensive to raise a child in NY. It is our obligation as taxpayers to ensure our kids get what the law entitles them to.”

“NYC children used to have free entrance to the Bronx Zoo and Botanical Gardens. It’s needed again for today’s children to have safe, green learning spaces that welcome underserved children.”

“I hope the bill passes so kids can enjoy the different museums and zoos. It’s educational and they learn so many wonderful things.”

The Free Admission Campaign launched a subreddit community in May 2025.

More than 700 people thus far have joined to discuss challenges accessing New York City’s cultural institutions.

“I think this is a great campaign. I had no idea the Bronx Zoo is supposed to be free for residents. Currently it’s only free on Wednesdays which is obviously useless for most people.

“It borders on fraud — and is really a shameful hustle for a public facility to be running… imagine the disappointment of so many poor kids all excited to get inside the zoo only to learn they are too poor to see most of the animals.”

“Thank you for taking on this project. I already thought it was annoying that these institutions took tax dollars and then would shame residents for not donating more so I was pretty outraged when I found freeadmission.org a while ago & realized their charter stated that they were supposed to be free and accessible to all. The one that makes me the most angry is the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. One free day is not enough. If my taxes pay for it I should have free access to it, period.”
